Our youngest niece, R, is nine. She is, I suppose, a very typical child of nine--"normal" and "typical" in pretty much every way.
This Christmas, Santa left her yet another round of Littlest Pet Shop pets, two American Girl dolls, $100 because he "didn't know what CDs and DVDs she might like," and an iPod. This last was clearly her fav, and she delighted in showing it to me the minute I arrived and finished hugging her.
D said her her, "So, what kinda music do you have on there?" R replied, "Some Hannah Montana, some Michael Jackson, and the soundtrack to Forest Gump."
D, ever the smart ass, asked, "No Sabbath? No Zepplin? No Metallica?"
R: "I have those at home...just not here at Grandmoms."
D (sure R's full of crap): "Ohhhhh. So what's your fav Metallica song?"
R (without missing a beat): "I love 'Enter Sandman' and 'Sad But True'."
Priceless, I tell ya.
